What people get wrong

"I have a state license, so I'm good."

Not here. Anyone 16+ also needs the $5/day East Bay Parks fishing permit.

"The park permit replaces the license."

No. You need both. The park permit pays for the fish plants.

"My kid needs a permit too."

Both requirements start at age 16.

"Bass are fine to eat."

The state says women 18–45 and kids shouldn't eat black bass from Lake Chabot. Everyone else: 1 serving a week.

"Trout are stocked all year."

Trout plants run fall through spring. Catfish plants are a summer thing.
